自1998年10月10日法國駐武漢總領事館正式開館以來，現武漢實際有外國總領事館4家，服務地區基本為華中及長江中上游地區。另有1家（俄羅斯）已達成協議，待開館。德國[1]、日本[2][3]、泰國、新加坡等國家也正籌備在武漢設立領事機構。[4][5]
