衛襄公夫人姜氏無子，寵姬婤姶生了孟縶。前540年（魯昭公二年、衛襄公四年），晉國韓宣子執政，向諸侯聘問的那一年，婤姶生了兒子元。孟縶的腳有疾病，前535年（魯昭公七年、衛襄公九年），孔成子立了公子元，就是衛靈公。十二月廿三日，安葬衛襄公。[1]
