功能

肾素 - 血管收缩素 - 醛固酮系统示意图

肾素 - 血管收缩素系统的解剖图，显示出血管收缩素Ⅰ转化酶在肺中的作用

主要功能有以下两个：

• 催化血管紧张素I转化为血管紧张素II；
• 使缓激肽失活。

血管紧张素转化酶因这两种功能而成为治疗高血压、心力衰竭、2型糖尿病和糖尿病肾病等疾病的理想靶点。血管紧张素转化酶抑制剂能减少血管紧张素II的生成，并增加缓激肽的活性。

此外，ACE也能催化血管紧张素-(1-9)转化为血管紧张素-(1-7)。
