生平
林望周之父为林右藻，泉州同安人。咸丰年间携家带眷前来台湾，居于艋舺八甲庄，经营杂货店维生。因经营有成而逐渐致富，后迁居大稻埕，林望周为其次子。其从小即帮忙父亲管理店铺，在闲暇时间读书，光绪中年（1890至1893年间）考试优等[1]，补为县学监生。1895年清廷割让台湾，乙未战争爆发，获推选为保良局长，协助平定地方治安。1898年配授绅章，1902年担任大稻埕区长，1907年3月23日因鼠疫病逝，享年48岁[2][3]。
