美国的逃亡奴隶

奴隶逃亡、追寻自由的现象与奴隶制本身同样古老。在历史上的美国奴隶制度中，逃亡奴隶（英语：fugitive slaves，或称runaway slaves）是指未经奴隶主允许便擅自离开的奴隶。一般来说，他们的目的地会是立法禁止蓄奴的州或领地（包括加拿大及墨西哥）。1850年逃亡奴隶法案（英语：Fugitive Slave Act of 1850）的通过加强了逃亡奴隶及其援助者的惩罚。大约有100,000名美国奴隶成功逃脱^[1][2]，占整体奴隶人口的2.5％，据1860年美国人口普查（英语：1860 United States census），奴隶人口为3,953,752人。
