早年生活
麦克拉克伦出生于华盛顿州亚基马。他的母亲是一个公关总监，父亲是一个股票经纪人和律师。[1][2][3]他有苏格兰，康沃尔和德国血统。[4]他有两个弟弟，都住在太平洋西北地区。1977年麦克拉克伦从艾森豪威尔高中毕业。1982年从华盛顿大学毕业，不久之后，搬到了加利福尼亚州好莱坞去追求自己的职业生涯。
个人生活
1993年，凯尔遇到模特琳达·伊凡吉莉丝塔，两人开始约会。伊凡吉莉丝塔与丈夫Gerald Marie分开。1998或1999年，两人据说已经订婚。两人后来分手，原因是伊凡吉莉丝塔遇到法国足球明星法比安·巴特兹并为他怀孕。
2002年麦克拉克伦与《伸展台计划》的执行制片人Desiree Gruber结婚，他们的儿子Callum Lyon MacLachlan，2008年7月26日生于洛杉矶。麦克拉克伦现在与家人居住在曼哈顿。
