การกลับชาติมาเกิด (อังกฤษ: reincarnation) บางทีเรียก การเกิดใหม่ (rebirth) หรือ การเวียนว่ายตายเกิด (transmigration)^[1][2] เป็นความเชื่อทางปรัชญาหรือทางศาสนาว่า สภาวะไร้รูปร่างของสิ่งมีชีวิตจะเริ่มชีวิตใหม่ในสภาพหรือรูปร่างอื่นหลังจากถึงแก่ความตายและมีการเปลี่ยนผ่านในทางชีวะแล้ว

การกลับชาติมาเกิดในศิลปะฮินดู

ในศาสนาเชน หลังจากเสียชีวิตแล้ว วิญญาณจะเดินทางไปยังหนึ่งในสี่โลก โดยขึ้นอยู่กับผลกรรมที่ก่อมาตอนที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่

การกลับชาติมาเกิดเป็นความเชื่อหลักในกลุ่มไสยศาสตร์และในศาสนาแบบอินเดีย ซึ่งได้แก่ ศาสนาเชน, ศาสนาพุทธ, ศาสนาซิกข์ และศาสนาฮินดู ถึงแม้บางกลุ่มในศาสนาฮินดูไม่เชื่อเรื่องนี้ แต่ก็เชื่อในชีวิตหลังความตาย^[2][3][4][5] การกลับชาติมาเกิดยังพบในศาสนายูดายออร์ทอดอกซ์หลายสาย และพบในความเชื่อบางประการของกลุ่มชนพื้นเมืองอเมริกันในสหรัฐ (ในรูปแบบที่แตกต่างกัน)^[6] รวมถึงชนพื้นเมืองออสเตรเลียบางส่วน (แต่ส่วนใหญ่เชื่อเรื่องชีวิตหลังความตายหรือโลกของวิญญาณ)^[7] ชาวกรีกหลายคนในประวัติศาสตร์ เช่น พีทาโกรัส, โสกราตีส และเพลโต เชื่อเรื่องการเกิดใหม่ หรือเมเทมไซโคซิส (metempsychosis)^[8] การกลับชาติมาเกิดยังเป็นความเชื่อในศาสนาสมัยใหม่ส่วนใหญ่ ถึงแม้ประชากรส่วนใหญ่ในศาสนาคริสต์และศาสนาอิสลามไม่เชื่อเรื่องนั้น แต่มีบางกลุ่มในศาสนาเหล่านั้นเชื่อเรื่องการกลับชาติมาเกิดใหม่ เช่น ลัทธิแคทาร์, อะละวีย์, ดรูซ^[9] และโรซิครูเชียน^[10] ความสัมพันธ์ในทางประวัติศาสตร์ ระหว่างนิกายดังกล่าว กับความเชื่อเรื่องการกลับชาติมาเกิดซึ่งมีลักษณะแบบนีโอเพลโตนิซึม, ออร์ฟิซึม, เฮอร์เมติซิซึม ศาสนามาณีกีและไญยนิยมในสมัยโรมัน รวมถึงกลุ่มศาสนาแบบอินเดีย ได้กลายเป็นหัวเรื่องการศึกษาวิจัยในยุคปัจจุบัน^[11] นอกจากนี้ ในไม่กี่ทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา ชาวยุโรปและชาวอเมริกาเหนือยังเริ่มสนใจการกลับชาติมาเกิด และมีงานเขียนร่วมสมัยหลายเรื่องที่เอ่ยถึงการกลับชาติมาเกิด^[12]
