Akustická hudba je hudba, ktorá používa hudobné nástroje, ktoré hrajú bez použitia zvukovej techniky, elektrických a elektronických nástrojov. Slovné spojenie "akustická hudba" sa začal používať po príchode elektrických nástrojov, ako elektrická gitara, elektrické husle, elektrický organ a syntetizátor.[1] V 90-tych rokoch sa zvýšila obľúbenosť tohto druhu hudby a televízna stanica MTV začala vysielať program MTV Unplugged, v ktorom akustická hudba bola väčšinou zosilnená cez rôzne elektrické zosilňovače.
