Plot

The movie follows the life of Puyi, who was the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty and later the emperor of the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo.[3]

Production

This movie was a collaboration by Italy, China, and the United Kingdom. It was entirely filmed in China, most notably in the Forbidden City in Beijing, as well as in Dalian and in Changchun.

Awards

The Last Emperor received Golden Globe Awards.[4]

The movie won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture.[5]
