The SIddiquis (kaeaboArabic: صديقي) are a religious group who claim to descended from of Abu Bakr Siddiq.[1][2]
Etymology
The title Siddiqui (Arabic: صديقي) is an attributive form of the Arabic word Siddiq (Arabic: صديق).[3][4] The name Siddiq means 'the truthful'.[4] It was given to Abu Bakr by Muhammadsaw.
History
According to a study, the Siddiquis are descended from a Kayastha record-keeper caste who Islamized at some point.[1]
