The Santa Barbara Independent is a newspaper that comes out every Thursday in Santa Barbara, California, in the United States. It includes news and information about arts. It is an alternative newspaper, and offers different viewpoints compared to mainstream newspapers. The Santa Barbara Independent was started in November 1986. It was created by merging two older papers: The Santa Barbara News & Review, which began in 1973, and The Santa Barbara Weekly, which started in 1984.[1]
