Robert Wise (September 10, 1914 – September 14, 2005)[1] was an American movie director, editor and producer. He received Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture on both West Side Story (1961) and The Sound of Music (1965). He is also known for directing The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Wise was born in Winchester, Indiana. He died in Los Angeles from heart failure four days after his 91st birthday.
