History

The Portugal National Olympic Committee was formed in 1909. It was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1909.[3]

Portugal's team first competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm.[1]

Portugal has been a part of every Summer Games since 1912. Portugal's first Winter Games was in 1952 in Oslo, Norway. It was 36 years later when they sent another team to the 1988 Winter Olympics of Calgary, Canada. Since then, Portugal has only missed two Winter Games (1992 and 2002).
