Polestar is a Swedish automotive brand. It was established in 1996 by Volvo Cars' partner Flash/Polestar Racing. It was acquired in 2015 by Volvo.[3] The company is headquartered in Torslanda near Gothenburg, Sweden.[4] The vehicles are made in China.[5]

The Polestar name comes from the Polestar racing team.[6][7] The racing team changed its name to Cyan Racing but still has close ties to Volvo.[8]
