Philippe M.P.J. Maystadt (14 March 1948 – 7 December 2017) was a Belgian politician. He served as Belgium's Minister of Finance from 1988 to 1998. He was also President of the European Investment Bank from 2000 to 2011. He was born in Verviers, Liège.
He also served as a federal and regional (Walloon) parliamentarian. Besides his political activities he was a professor at the Université catholique de Louvain.
Maystadt died of lung disease on 7 December 2017, at the age of 69.[1]
