Old El Paso was first created by James A. Dick and Tom Barwise of Mountain Pass Canning Company in 1938.[2] Old El Paso would become part of Pet, Inc. when they would take over Mountain Pass in 1968. It would again be moved after Pillsbury bought Pet, Inc. in 1995. It would finally be under General Mills in 2001 when General Mills bought Pillsbury.[3]

Old El Paso produces many different Tex-Mex products including taco shells, sauces, and seasoning.
