The Myrmidons (Greek: Μυρμιδόνες, Myrmidones) were a legendary people of Greek mythology. Native to the region of Thessaly, they were said to be the fiercest and strongest of all the warriors in Greece; during the Trojan War,[1] they were led by Achilles, as described in Homer's Iliad. According to Greek myth, they were created by Zeus from a colony of ants, from which their name is derived - Greek myrmex (μύρμηξ), meaning "ant".
