Lawrence Joseph Ellison (born August 17, 1944) is an American businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is a co-founder of Oracle Corporation.

Between 1977 and 2014, he was chief executive officer of Oracle.[2] Today, he is executive chairman and chief technology officer.[3]

As of March 2019, he was listed by Forbes magazine as the fourth-richest person in the United States and as the seventh-richest in the world, with a fortune of $63.5 billion, up from $54.5 billion in 2018.[4]

In 1997, Ellison was given the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement.[5][6]

In 2013, Ellison was admitted into the Bay Area Business Hall of Fame.[7]

In 2019, the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC honored Ellison with the first Rebels With A Cause Award in recognition of his generous support across many years.[8]

In 2024, Ellison was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.[9][10]
