Hurricane Iwa

Hurricane Iwa was a hurricane that hit the U.S. state of Hawaii. Iwa was the 23rd tropical storm of the 1982 Pacific hurricane season. The hurricane formed on November 1982, and passed near Kauai on November 24. It died out the next day.[1][2]

The storm caused very bad damage on the islands of Niihau, Kauai, and Oahu. Some wind gusts reached 100 mph (160 km/h), and waves were over 30 feet (9 m) high.[2][3] Iwa damaged or destroyed 2,345 buildings and left 500 people without homes. The storm caused four deaths.
