Gro Harlem Brundtland

audio speaker iconGro Harlem Brundtland  (IPA: /gru hɑɭɛm brʉntlɑn/) (born 20 April 1939) is a Norwegian politician, diplomat, and physician. She is an international leader in sustainable development and public health. She is a former Prime Minister of Norway. She was the Director General of the World Health Organization. In 2007, she became a Special Envoy for Climate Change for the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.[1]

Education

Brundtland has a degree from the University of Oslo. She also has a master's degree from Harvard University.

She was elected a honorary member of the Academia Europaea in 2009.[2]
