Golden is a city in the Canadian province of British Columbia and is nicknamed "Kicking Horse Country".

Golden was first known as The Cache and Kicking Horse Flats.

Frederick W Aylmer heard about a development west of Banff, Alberta being called Silver City, thought to call this community Golden City. "City" was dropped when the CPR arrived in 1885.

The current mayor of Golden is Ron Oszust.[1] The mayor in 2009, Aman Virk died suddenly of a surpise heart attack while vacationing in India.[2]

The population is 3,986 from the 2021 census.[3]

Golden is home to the longest freestanding timber frame bridge in Canada called the "Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge".[4]

NHL player Doug Barrault was born in Golden.[5]
