Frank Romer Pierson (May 12, 1925 – July 22, 2012) was an American movie director, movie producer, and screenwriter. He was known for his works in Dog Day Afternoon, Cool Hand Luke, A Star is Born, Soldier's Girl, and King of Gypsies. He won an Academy Award in 1975.
He was born on May 12, 1925 in Chappaqua, New York.[1] He studied at Harvard College. He was married to Helene Pierson until his death. He died on July 22, 2012 in his Los Angeles, California home from natural causes, aged 87.[2]
