Emily Erin Deschanel (born October 11, 1976[2]) is an American actress, movie producer and television producer. She is best known for her role as the main character in the television series Bones.

Deschanel was born in Los Angeles, California.[2] She is of French, Swiss, Dutch, Irish and English ancestry. She is the elder daughter of Caleb Deschanel and Mary Jo Deschanel (nee Weir). Her sister is actress Zooey Deschanel.
Deschanel married David Hornsby in 2010. The couple's son was born in 2011.
