Elon Lages Lima (July 9, 1929 – May 7, 2017)[1] was a Brazilian mathematician. His research concerns differential topology, algebraic topology, and differential geometry.[2] Lima was an influential figure in the development of mathematics in Brazil.[3]

Lima was professor emeritus at Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada[4] of which he was the director during three separate periods.
