Dustin Neil Diamond[1] (January 7, 1977[2] – February 1, 2021) was an American actor, director, comedian, and musician. He was best known for his role as Samuel "Screech" Powers in Saved by the Bell. Diamond was born in San Jose, California.

On December 26, 2014, Diamond was arrested in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin for stabbing a man at a bar.[3][4] On May 29, 2015, Diamond was convicted of two misdemeanors and was sentenced to four months in prison.[5] He served three months and was released on probation.
In January 2021, Diamond was diagnosed with stage-4 small-cell lung carcinoma.[6] He died from the disease while undergoing chemotherapy in Cape Coral, Florida on February 1, 2021 at the age of 44.[7][8][9]
