American mathematician From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carl Pomerance (born 1944, Joplin, Missouri) is a mathematician. Most of his work has been in number theory. He helped find the quadratic sieve which is a way to factor big numbers very fast. He teaches at Dartmouth College. He has Erdős number 1.[1]
