Waimate

Waimate is a town in the South Island, New Zealand. It is situtated 46 kilometers south of Timaru and 46 kilometers north of Oamaru and State Highway 82 runs through the town centre. It has four primary schools and one high school located in town and in 1966 lost its railway connection. It is situated 20 kilometers north of the Waitaki River. It is the home of New Zealand prime minister Norman Kirk and singer-songwriter Kaylee Bell.
