Russell M. Nelson

Russell Marion Nelson (born September 9, 1924) is the 17th and current President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) upon replacing Thomas S. Monson in January 2018. He was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS Church. He is also a known cardiothoracic surgeon.[1]

Currently, he is the oldest living apostle in the Church.[2] In July 3, 2015, following the death of President Boyd K. Packer, Nelson became President of the Quorum.
