Richard Askey

Richard Allen Askey (June 4, 1933 – October 9, 2019) was an American mathematician. He was known for his expertise in the area of special functions. The Askey–Gasper inequality for Jacobi polynomials is essential in de Brange's famous proof of the Bieberbach conjecture. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1993.[1] In 1999 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.[2]
