The Mohegan are a Native American tribe from present-day Connecticut. They are part of the Northeastern Woodlands. The language family is the Algonquian language. It is a nationally recognized tribe in Connecticut. The Mohegan and Pequot used to be together during colonial times. The name Mohegan means "People of the Wolf". The Mohegan were attacked by the Mohawk. The Mohawk were part of the Iroquois Confederacy. The Mohegan eventually lost their lands. The Mohegan today are the Mohegan Tribe. They live on the Mohegan Indian Reservation.[1][2]
