El-Mansoura[1] (Arabic: المنصورة) is a city in Egypt. 960,423 people live in it.[2] It is the capital of the Dakahlia Governorate.

Mansoura in Arabic means "victorious". The city's name came from the Egyptian victory at the El Mansoura Battle over Louis IX of France during the Seventh Crusade.
Mansoura is on the east bank of the Damietta branch of the Nile. It is about 120 km northeast of Cairo. The town of Talkha is on the other bank of the Nile
