Kumagaya (熊谷市, Kumagaya-shi) is a Japanese city in Saitama Prefecture on the island of Honshu.[1]

It has been recognized as a special city since 2009.[2]
The city has an estimated population of 153,392 (as of 1 June 2012) and the density of 1,270.8 people per km².[3]
