Charles Joseph "Joe" Scarborough (born April 9, 1963) is an American television host, attorney, liberal political commentator and former politician who is the host of Morning Joe on National Broadcasting Company's (NBC) sister network MSNBC (Microsoft NBC).[1] He previously hosted Scarborough Country on the same network. As a member of the Republican Party, he was a former member of the United States House of Representatives.[2]

On July 11, 2017, Scarborough announced on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he was leaving the Republican party to become an independent.[3]
