The Japan Academy Prizes (日本アカデミー賞, Nippon Akademī-shō) is a group of awards that are given every year to Japanese movies. They are also called the Japan Academy Awards and the Japanese Academy Awards. The awards are given out by the Nippon Academy shō Association. The categories of the awards are very similar to the Academy Awards. The awards have been given every year since 1978.[1]
