Gretna is the second-largest city in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States.[4][5] Gretna is on the west bank of the Mississippi River. It is just east and across the river from uptown New Orleans. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2020, 17,814 people lived there.[3]
