A glucose meter is a medical tool that measures glucose in human blood. It is an important part of blood glucose checking for people with diabetes mellitus or hypoglycemia. A drop of blood is placed on a test strip. The meter reads the strip and displays the blood sugar levels.[1]

The tests are used for type 1 diabetes, latent autoimmune diabetes of adults and type 2 diabetes. Home tests for type 2 diabetes came more slowly than for type 1.
