Black Adam, real name Teth-Adam, is a fictional supervillain and sometimes antihero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He was created by Otto Binder and C. C. Beck, the character is the archenemy of the superhero Captain Marvel, also known as Shazam (alongside Doctor Sivana and Mister Mind) and rival to both Superman and Hawkman.
Though his origins vary between versions, in all that he is depicted as the former champion of the Wizard, who was corrupted by his power, resulting in him becoming a villain and an adversary towards the Marvel Family. In recent years, however, he has frequently been depicted as a more neutral or anti-villainous character.
In 2009, Black Adam was ranked as IGN's 16th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time.[1]
Black Adam possesses the powers of six Egyptian gods: the stamina of Shu, the strength of Heru, the power of Amon, the wisdom of Zehuti, the speed of Anpu, and the courage of Mehen. These powers make him almost invincible, and he is capable of superhuman strength, speed, durability, flight, and energy projection.
Actor Dwayne Johnson voiced Black Adam in DC League of Super-Pets (2022), before starring as him in his live-action debut in the DC Extended Universe movie Black Adam (2022),[2] following a silent digital cameo in Shazam! (2019).
