Linux distro based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
AlmaLinux is a distribution of Linux that was originally created to be a 1:1 binary compatible release of Red Hat Enterprise, but shifted to ABI compatibility in June of 2023.[1] It was created due to Red Hat shifting the focus of CentOS to the new CentOS Stream development branch, and then shifted to ABI compatibility after RedHat stopped shipping RHEL sources to git.centos.org. The creation of AlmaLinux and the AlmaLinux OS Foundation is based on the Open Source principal to provide a community owned and governed, forever-free enterprise Linux distribution.
