Vladikavkaz (Roushie: Владикавказ, lit. ruler o the Caucasus; Ossetian: Дзӕуджыхъӕу, Dzæwdžyqæw, lit. Dzaug's settlement) is the caipital ceety o the Republic o North Ossetie-Alanie in soothren Roushie. It is locatit in the sootheast o the republic at the fuithills o the Caucasus Mountains, situatit the Terek River. Population: 315,068 (2002 Census);[6] 300,198 (1989 Census).[7] Vladikavkaz is ane o the maist populous ceeties in the North Caucasus.
