The Mairches (Inglis: Scottish Borders; Scots Gaelic: Na Crìochan) is ane o the 32 cooncil areas o Scotland. It is bordered bi Dumfries an Gallowa til the wast; Sooth Lanrikshire an Wast Lowden til the nor-wast; Ceety o Edinburgh, East Lowden an Midlowden til the north; an the non-metropolitan coonties o Northumberland an Cumbria (in Ingland) til the sooth an east. The administrative centre o the region is Newtown St Boswells.
