This name in turn wis taken frae that o a local stream, the Osancheon. Housomeivver, prior tae the Japanese occupation, the name haed been rendered in hanja as 鰲山, meanin "soft-shelled turtle muntain." This name haes been retained tae this day even as a surname in Indie.
