Atween 1703–1710 an 1766–1769, a factory wis operatin on the steid o the ceety. The toun wis occupeed bi Finland durin Warld War II atween 1941 an 1944.[7]
Medvezhyegorsk is on the Murmansk railwey sooth o the White Sea, an at the north end o Lake Onega. The White Sea-Baltic Canal passes bi it. Elevation: 262 feet (80 m).
