The municipality conteens the 6,358 hectare (15,710 acre) Jaíba Biological Reserve, a fully protectit conservation unit creatit in 1994.[1]
The economy is based on agricultur wi emphasis on cattle raisin. Thare wur 46,000 heid in 2006. The main agricultural crops wur cotton, peanuts, corn, manioc, sorghum, succarcane, an mamona--castor ile plant. The GDP wis R$37,034,000 in 2005.
