From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Snawy Houlet (Bubo scandiacus) is a muckle houlet o the typical houlet faimily Strigidae. The Snawy Houlet wis first classified in 1758 bi Carolus Linnaeus, the Swadish naturalist who developed binomial nomenclature tae classify an organize plants an ainimals. Till recently, it wis regardit as the sole member o a distinct genus, as Nyctea scandiaca, but mtDNA cytochrome b sequence data (Olsen et al. 2002) shaws that it is very closely relatit tae the horned houlets in the genus Bubo. The Snawy Houlet is the offeecial bird o the Canadian province o Quebec.
