Sigismund I o Poland (Pols: Zygmunt I Stary; Lithuanie: Žygimantas I Senasis) (1 Januar 1467 – 1 Aprile 1548), o the Jagiellon, reigned as King o Poland an an aa as the Grand Duke o Lithuanie frae 1506 till 1548. Sigismund I wis the son o Casimir IV an the younger brither o Kings John I Albert an Alexander I Jagiellon.[1] He wis nicknamed "the Auld" in later historiography tae distinguish him frae his son an successor Sigismund II Augustus. Being a patron o the airts, he expandit Polish influence, establishin rule ower Ducal Prussia an annexin the Duchy o Mazovia wi Warsaw.
