The Act haes the constitutional distinction o bein cried in the Regency Act 1937 as a statute that cannae be amended durin a regency. The Regency Act provides that a regent cannae assent tae a bill tae amend the Acts o Union 1707, or ony bill affecting the line o succession.[1] Whan the Regency Bill wis communed in the Hoose o Commons, the attorney-general exponed, "The safeguarding o this particular Act o the Scots Parliament wis expressly mentioned in the Act o Union, an that is the historic raison hou come it appears here."[2] An act of the Inglis Pairlament, 6 Anne c.8, made similar provision for the Inglis Kirk in 1706 but insae mentioned in the Regency Act.
