Marcus Porcius Cato [1] (234 BC, Tusculum ā 149 BC) wis a Roman statesman, commonly referred tae as Censorius (the Censor), Sapiens (the Wise), Priscus (the Auncient), or Major, Cato the Elder, or Cato the Censor, (tae distinguish him frae his great-grandson, Cato the Younger) kent for his conservatism an opposeetion tae Hellenization.[2]
