Situatit in sootheastren portion o the oblast. Borders wi Vologda Oblast in the east, Novgorod Oblast in the sooth an Tikhvinsky Destrict o Leningrad Oblast in the north an wast. Destrict’s aurie is 7,180 km². Its territory is maistly formit bi upland wi altitudes rangin atween 150 an 250 m abuin sea level. Wast portion o the destrict is maistly flat wi altitudes 50-100 m abuin sea level. The destrict heas deposits o bauxite, limestane, dolomite an peat. Rivers in the wast o the destrict belangs tae the basin o Baltic Sea, rivers in the east belangs tae the basin o Caspian Sea.
