Daniel Adams Butterfield (nascido em 31 de outubro de 1831 - 17 de julho de 1909) foi um empresário e soldado dos Estados Unidos. Se formou em Union College em 1849, e tornou-se um comerciante de Nova Iorque. Com o início da Guerra Civil em 1861, ele foi um coronel. Demonstrando liderança em combates militares no Potomac e no vale de Shenandoah.[1]
Butterfield graduated from Union College in 1849, and became a merchant in New York City. At the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, he served as a colonel in the 12th New York militia. Demonstrating leadership in military engagements on the upper Potomac in the Shenandoah Valley, Butterfield rose rapidly in the ranks to brigadier-general of volunteers in the 12th Infantry.
