Zjytomyr, eller Sjitomir (ukrainsk og russisk: Житомир, polsk: Żytomierz), er en by i det nordvestlige Ukraina. Byen er administrasjonssenteret i Zjytomyr oblast.

Byen er et transportknutepunkt, og har historisk knyttet Kiev sammen med Brest. I dag knytter Zjytomyr blant annet Warszawa til Kiev og Minsk til Izmail.
De viktigste næringsveiene i Zjytomyr er treforedling, næringsmiddelindustri, utvinning av granitt og metallindustri.
De første sikre kilder som nevner Zjytomyr er fra 1240, da Batu Khan ødela byen under Mongolenes invasjon av Russland. Fra 1320 kom byen under Storhertugdømmet Litauen, før den etter Lublinunionen i 1569 kom under den polske kronen. I Polens andre deling tilfalt byen Russland. Fra 1920 ble byen liggende i Sovjetunionen.
Zjytomyr hadde før andre verdenskrig et betydelig jødisk samfunn. Det jødiske samfunnet ble utryddet i holocaust.
